How the Integration Works
WhatsApp operates through the WhatsApp Business API (Meta Cloud API). Auralix connects to your number through this API and handles incoming messages with your AI agent.
You'll need an access token and a Phone Number ID from Meta Business.
Step 1: Create an App in Meta Business
- Go to developers.facebook.com
- Click My Apps → Create App
- Choose the Business type
- Add the WhatsApp product to your app
Step 2: Get Your Token and Phone Number ID
Under WhatsApp → API Setup:
- In the Send and receive messages block, copy your Phone Number ID
- Create a permanent access token: go to System Users in Business Manager, create a system user with Admin role, assign the app, and generate a token with
whatsapp_business_messagingpermissions
The temporary token from API Setup is valid for 24 hours — use a permanent token for production.
Step 3: Connect WhatsApp in Auralix
- Log in to Auralix and open your project
- Go to Channels → WhatsApp
- Enter your Phone Number ID and Access Token
- Click Save
Auralix configures the Webhook automatically — no need to set up URLs manually.
Step 4: Test the Integration
Send a message to your connected WhatsApp number from another phone. The AI agent will reply within a few seconds.
No reply? Check that the number is verified in Meta Business and that the agent is active in Auralix.
WhatsApp Business API Limitations
- Session window: free replies are only possible within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Initiating a conversation requires paid template messages
- Business verification: Meta may request documents to verify your business — this is standard procedure
- Phone number: you can't use a number already linked to regular WhatsApp or the WhatsApp Business App
FAQ
Can I use regular WhatsApp (not Business)? No. The API only works with WhatsApp Business API. Using unofficial libraries violates Meta's Terms of Service.
How much does WhatsApp Business API cost? Meta charges per conversation (not per message). Incoming service conversations are free for the first 1,000 per month. See Meta's pricing page for details.
Can I connect multiple phone numbers? Yes — you can add multiple numbers to a single Meta app. In Auralix, each number is linked to a separate project channel.
